Number 4: Federal permitting is prime for modernization
Manufacturers must apply for permits from as many as a dozen different agencies, adding high cost and time to the permitting process. All those forms could be consolidated into one streamlined process. That would simplify the process for applicants and federal workers, save taxpayer money, and help manufacturers focus on building things.

Federal Chief AI Officers (CAIO) say the benefits of AI outweigh the risks. The biggest challenge is finding practical use cases that can be scaled across government IT.

Number 1: Department of Veterans Affairs financial disclosure SaaS case study
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) capitalized on the success of a small IT project focused on solving a specific technical problem preventing 150 SGEs from filing financial disclosure forms. Next, it rolled out the modernized process, through FDOnline, for 13,000 filers and 5,000 supervisors enterprise-wide.
